"According to a National Catholic Reporter article[1],  Norman Carroll is now Episcopalian.  It was clear to me and others, however, that he was very much a Protestant even when he claimed to be Catholic.  "[The Church] will…"

Saint Gregory the Great

The more I read from St. Gregory, the more I understand why he was called "the Great."God bless,Dave-----From a homily on Ezekiel by Saint Gregory the Great, pope(Lib. 1, 11, 4-6: CCL 142, 170-172):"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel." Note that a man whom the Lord sends forth as a preacher is…See More

Medjugorje is a Fraud, by Mark Shea

Medjugorje is a FraudJune 29, 2012 By Mark Shea Al Kresta adds more testimony [HERE] to the mountain of reasons why you should stay far away from this fraud. And Rome will soon add its voice to that of the unbroken testimony of every local ordinary to address the fraud  there, reiterating yet again that nothing supernatural is occurring there. In short, Mary is not appearing there…See More

Thirteenth - Greatest of Centuries

The following excerpts come from the book, Thirteenth: Greatest of Centuries (12th ed., 1952, originally published 1907) by James J. Confronting Religious Illiteracy

[Pope Benedict XVI] noted the need for a true renewal of catechesis in order to emphasize its precious truth, reacting to what has been termed "religious illiteracy". He strongly reaffirmed the necessity of a deep conviction of the truth of God's revelation in His Son Jesus Christ, because "if there is no truth, there is no compass, and we do not know where to go", and "only if there is truth, is Life rich and beautiful. " Without this conviction, "we can not re-evangelize the humanity of…See More

Why didn't God make us and the world perfect?

Why didn't the all-powerful God simply *poof* us into perfect beings living in heavenly bliss from the very start?  Instead, God--infinitely perfect--made man and all creation "good, very good", yet did not (yet) make man and all of creation perfect.  Instead God made man and all creation good and imperfect, bestowing upon man the honor of participating in his own eternal perfection, and indeed the pefection of the world. The question, "Why didn't God make us and the world perfect?" is…See More

Catholics are "all about the Church" and not "about faith?"

A friend of mine--a former Catholic--said to me that Catholics are "all about the Church" instead of being "about faith."  To have drawn such a conclusion, his experience and education as a Catholic was no doubt radically different from mine. My response was to point out that it was none other than Jesus Christ Himself that insisted, with respect to those He appointed as His presbyter-bishops:  "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who…See More
